Injection molds can be divided into parting surfaces, structural parts, mold accuracy, gating system, plastic shrinkage, and factors affecting the dimensional accuracy of the product, which we will discuss below!
1. Parting Surface: This is the contact surface between the mold and the male mold when the mold is closed. Its location and shape are chosen depending on the shape and appearance of the product, wall thickness, molding methods, post-processing, mold type and structure, demolding methods, and the design of the molding machine, among other factors.
2. Structural Parts: Slider, inclined top, and straight top of complex molds. The design of structural parts is very important; it affects the service life of the product, processing cycle, cost, product quality, and so on. Therefore, the design of a complex mold core structure requires versatile skills from designers, and we strive to find simpler, more durable, and more economical design solutions.
3. Mold Accuracy: This refers to avoiding mapping, positioning, guide pillar, positioning pin, etc. The positioning system is related to the quality of the product's appearance, mold quality, and mold service life. Different positioning methods are chosen according to the different mold structures. Control of positioning accuracy mainly depends on processing. Internal mold positioning is mainly considered by the designer to develop a more reasonable and easily adjustable positioning method.
4. Gating System: This is the channel from the injection machine nozzle to the cavity, including the main runner, branch runner, gate, and cold cavity. In particular, the location of the runner should facilitate the selection of a good flow state with the molten plastic to fill the cavity, and in an open mold (except for hot runner molds), the cold material attached to the product on the solid runner and runner can be easily removed from the mold.
5. Plastic Shrinkage and Factors Affecting Dimensional Accuracy of the Product: For example, errors in mold manufacturing and assembly, mold wear.
